First off, let’s talk about what a chukka boot is. Generally speaking, a chukka boot is any high-ankle boot with a low number of eyelets. Some have two or three, but that’s it.
It can be made of any material. But the Bushacre 2 is a chukka boot with a light material and a Crepe sole. It isn’t similar to the Desert boot but looks somewhat alike.
Now, chukka boots are one of the most popular go-to boots for the fall. It looks good on younger guys, older guys and everybody in between. And the great thing about them is, you can dress them up, dress them down.
But they particularly look good with dark denim and chinos. The Desert boot, on the other hand, has become so popular that people use them synonymously with chukka boot.
Clarks Men’s Bushacre 2 Review
Clarks has been making quality shoes for well over a hundred years. And they are famous for providing quality men’s dress shoes. They have a wide range and variety of styles and have been offering a wide range of top-quality components to the consumers.
Let’s discuss closet basics first. These days, you should spend less time on the field and more time making first impressions. So, boots that are comfortable and yet smart are essential.
One particular boot that checks both boxes is the Clarks Bushacre 2 Boot. Here is why.
- First, they are practical.
- The classic chukka style boot is built with flexible and lightweight leather.
- This boot makes for a comfortable fit all day.
- Highly versatile.
- You can easily wear them with a denim and a button-down or smarten it up with some trousers and some casual sweater.
- These boots are long-lasting.
I prefer chukka boots with a little more sophisticated look. Of course, black denim is what you should prefer first, but perhaps you have a crisp fall date night, and chinos are the way to go. Now enough talk about styles, let’s have a look at the boots now.
Clark, a British shoe company that was founded in the 1800s. The boots are used to be made in Britain, but Clarks now outsource most of their production to Asian countries.
Clarks is a reliable brand that has been crafting men’s footwear for decades. You can count and rely on the Bushacre 2 because they are hand made with quality leather or Suede to last long, age well and give you unique look that will be only available to you.
The upper is composed of two-pieces of Suede that are joint together with a double stitch. The Suede is thin as with all chukka boots are, and there are not much of a structure. But the durability of the upper has never been an issue.
It’s 100% leather and ages really well.
The unlined toe box can also be a little roomy. So, for sizing, I would suggest sizing down at least half a size. These shoes run large. If you want a perfect fit, order half size down.
This is perhaps the weakest point of the shoe. While there is no doubt that this is a comfortable boot, the soft rubber wears away quickly. The good news is that the outsole does have a recraft able stitch the resoles cost about 70 bucks or more.
The beauty of this chukka boot is its simple construction. The upper has no branding, and the overall silhouette is sleek and clean. As I’ve said before, these boots work well with denim, chinos, and trousers.
I wouldn’t recommend them wearing with shorts, but I have seen some guys pull it off and frankly, they don’t look that bad.
The nice thing about them is that they kind of just goes with everything. They come in lots of different colors, but I really love the Taupe Distressed Suede color.
Another thing I like about them is their comfort feature. Well, to be honest, these aren’t the most comfortable chukka boots out there, but they are pretty comfortable. I would suggest you add a proper insole to give you a comfortable fit.
These boots come in original Clarks box; if you shop a lot, you know what I mean. The Suede will come flawless, the boots are wrapped carefully to prevent shipping damage, and you will rarely find any scratches or blemishes on the upper.
Like with any other chukka boots, break-in period will be a week. You simply can’t force these types of boots. You have to give some time. Rush the process, and by the end of the day, your feet will hurt like hell.
It’s quite the cool chukka and very flexible in construction. If you are not a boot person, consider adding an insole. They will be so much better and more comfortable.
The beautiful leather upper has plenty of detailed stitching throughout and also features a plain toe. There is a lace-up closure with metal eyelets to provide a proper fit. I do recommend going with a half size down. This boot sits pretty comfortably on top of a super sticky rubber outsole.
That’s all about it.
If you are looking to add some variety and textures to your outfits for the fall-winter season, the Clarks Men’s Bushacre 2 chukka boot should be your go-to boot. I hope you enjoyed the quick review of this one and consider getting yourself a pair.
